Shark Girl by Kelly Bingham

While this is not a true story, it certainly could be. There have been a lot of news stories about shark attacks in the last few years, and this girl’s story is not very different from that of many survivors. She was swimming, not far from shore, at a public beach. A shark attacked her, nearly killing her and leaving her an amputee. There are days when she is thankful to be alive, but there are a lot of things that leave her feeling depressed — especially since she was an artist before losing her arm. This novel in verse is a quick read, but one you will not likely forget.
