Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti

Erin and Lani have been best friends since they were children, but fate doesn’t seem to care an awful lot about history.  When Erin falls for a guy named Jason, Lani is really happy for her.  Shortly thereafter, however, Lani finds that she feels a strange connection to Jason.  At first, she tries to deny her feelings.  Then, she tries to reason with herself that she could never date Jason because she would not want to hurt Lani.  But, when Jason says that he has broken up with Lani and really wants to be with Erin, she decides that she wants to try and make it work. Obviously, drama ensues.  The thing is, though, that this book didn’t seem to be drama for drama’s sake.  It seemed very realistic in the portrayal of how a teen might respond to falling for the wrong person for all the right reasons.  Trust me — I know all about that!  Speaking as someone who fell for the guy who was best friends with a guy she just started seeing, I know what it’s like.  I won’t tell you the end of the book, but I can say that my story has a happy ending…  I married the guy!  😉

Happy Reading!
