Burned by Ellen Hopkins

Pattyn Von Stratten is a curious teenager — and curiosity is all it takes to get into major trouble when you belong to a majorly-abusive, fundamentalist family.  Questions about God, sex, love, and female subservience get her into hot water with her alcoholic father and the leaders of her Mormon church.  When she is caught in a “compromising position” with a boy, Pattyn gets sent away to live with an aunt she had never before met.  What was supposed to be a severe punishment, however, soon seems an awful lot like salvation to Pattyn.  In Aunt J, she has found the love and acceptance she had always sought.  And after falling in love with a boy named Ethan, Pattyn wonders if her life might finally be heading in a positive direction.  Life, it seems, cannot stay so simple and pure for Pattyn.  The sudden, dramatic ending to this story will leave you reeling…

Happy Reading!
